Course Description

Who is it for?

This custom training is for individuals who would like to become qualified welders.

What is it?

We will be practicing specific welds in order to be able to pass the qualification tests to the best of their abilities. These tests are below in “what will be taught”.

What will be taught:

  • 3/8” carbon steel grooves, 3G, GMAW-P: 
    • M #’s Qualified: M-1 through M-15E, M-41 through M-49, and M-34
    • Deposited Weld Metal Thickness: no minimum and ¾” maximum.
    • Positions Qualified: Plate and pipe over 24” OD = Flat and Vertical. Fillets = Flat, Horizontal and Vertical.
  • ½” Aluminum fillets, 2F, GMAW-P:
    • M #’s Qualified: M-21 through M-27
    • Fillet Size & Plate Thickness: no minimum & unlimited fillet size & thickness
    • Positions Qualified:  Flat and Horizontal
  • 10ga stainless fillets, 2F, GMAW-S:
    • M #’s Qualified: M-1 through M-15E, M-41 through M-49, and M-34
    • Fillet Size & Plate Thickness: no minimum & unlimited fillet size & thickness
    • Positions Qualified:  Flat and Horizontal
  • Participant will be qualified to AWS standard, but not certified

Minimum enrollment numbers must be met in order for Weld School or Seminar & Workshop trainings to be held.  Trainings with less than the required minimum enrollment are subject to cancellation or rescheduling at the discretion of the WTTC Program Manager, Business Manager, or Manager of Technical Services. Classes will be cancelled no less than fourteen (14) working days before the scheduled start day of class and enrollees will be contacted.

Welding classes are held Tuesday thru Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please be prepared to begin welding on the first day. If you have not paid in full, the entire course fee is due prior to the class start date.

Required PPE and tools: welding hood, lenses, leather gloves, welding jacket, wire brush, pliers, safety glasses with side shields, long sleeve cotton shirts, long pants and steel-toed shoes must be worn at all times within the school. (Absolutely no shorts permitted). Attendees will need their ID and know the last 4 digits of their SSN to complete their qualification testing.

**Without the proper attire, you will not be permitted on the weld floor (no exceptions)**
