Classes will be cancelled no less than fourteen (14) working days before the scheduled start day of class and enrollees will be contacted. - [Course API101: API Pipe](https://classes.lincolnelectric.com/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1055215): Designed to introduce welders to the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process of welding pipe to meet the API (vertical down) welding code, students are taken from basic pipe welding methods to advanced pipe welding techniques relating to butt joints using cellulosic and low hydrogen electrodes in accordance to API 1104 code.  During advanced instruction, students will be working with schedule 40, 12 inch pipe. Lasting 6 weeks, this course provides 180 hours of booth instruction, lecture and practice. Upon completion of this course, students should have developed the skills for a career in the API piping industry. Prerequisite:  Before entering this class, students must have experience in welding and make passing welds on a sample test plate that includes vertical and overhead welds with an E6010 and E7018 electrode. Course Content Safety in Welding This course covers safety issues related to the welding and cutting of metal. Students learn the types and uses of personal protection equipment (PPE) and the techniques for handling and storing fuel and other gas cylinders. Students learn the safety and fire risks associated with electrical equipment and learn basic first-aid procedures. API Basic Pipe 1 This course introduces students to the fundamentals of API pipe welding, which includes 2G, proper fit-up, joint preparation, tacking and electrode selection in vertical down welding. API Basic Pipe 2 This course introduces 5G and reviews proper fit-up, joint preparation, tacking and electrode selection in vertical down welding. API Basic Pipe 3 Reviewing 5G, students are introduced to vertical down welding using cellulose electrode for root as well as vertical up hot, fill and cap with low hydrogen electrodes. API Basic Pipe 4 During this course students are introduced to troubleshooting and 6G, which includes DC- for less burnthrough and land vs. gap.  In addition, AWS and API codes are explained as well as pipe welding joints positioned at a 45 degree angle using vertical down techniques. This course will cover curriculum design, lesson plan development, lab management, presentation skills, classroom management and more. We will explore what it means to become a teacher not just an instructor. Participants will be taught how to deal with different style of learners, how to use different teaching techniques and many other aspects of teaching. The course is intended for new welding instructors at both the high school and community college levels that have never had any formal teacher training. Participants will leave this workshop with the tools for a successful year teaching welding education. What is it? A five day course limited to 24 participants who will be taught by both current welding instructors and guest instructors. Students will learn how to safely operate a plasma arc cutting power source and make a cut. In oxyfuel cutting, students learn the use of fuel gases, how to set up an oxyfuel cutting operation and the safe handling and storage of combustible-gas cylinders. On the final day of this class students will learn the set up and practice proper brazing techniques. Driven exclusively by a FANUC virtual robot controller, the WeldPRO plug-in is empowered with the most accurate program teaching tools and cycle time information available in any simulation package. A user can learn to easily navigate the WeldPRO plug-in to create complete workcells by importing actual tooling and workpiece CAD files. Anyone familiar with programming a FANUC robot will be able to create new weld paths with proper torch angles and process parameters.
