CWELDCUT101 - Comprehensive Oxyfuel Cutting, Plasma Cutting and Brazing
Course Description
This program describes the two basic thermal cutting processes: Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC) and Oxyfuel Cutting. Students will learn how to safely operate a plasma arc cutting power source and make a cut. In oxyfuel cutting, students learn the use of fuel gases, how to set up an oxyfuel cutting operation and the safe handling and storage of combustible-gas cylinders. On the final day of this class students will learn the set up and practice proper brazing techniques.
Course Content
- Choose the proper PPE to use when cutting
- Identify hazards with fumes and gases, light radiation, fires and explosions, and compressed gases associated with OFC
- Students will learn about the different fuel gases used in OFC
- Students will learn how about cylinder safety, storage, transportation, and the equipment used to set up the OFC system
- Students will learn how to set up and adjust the oxyfuel torch
- Identify the different fuels used in oxyfuel cutting
- Identify safe cylinder practices, storage, handling, and equipment set-up
- Demonstrate how to safely set up, light, and adjust the oxyfuel cutting flame
- Demonstrate how to assemble the plasma arc cutting power source
- Demonstrate the ability to safely set up, adjust and make a cut using the PAC system
- Demonstrate the ability to measure and lay out the material for using a guide
- Demonstrate all brazing safety principles discussed
- Describe the brazing process
- Select the correct gases, base metals and consumable materials needed
- Navigate a Lincoln Electric brazing specification
- Demonstrate proper fit-up per Lincoln specification
