Course Description

Designed to instruct welders in welding safety and the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding process (GTAW - TIG).

Course Content

  • Learn fundamentals of GTAW (TIG) for steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Welding procedures are taught on aluminum, carbon and stainless steels.
  • Welding consists of edge, corner, lap and fillet welds in all positions.
  • Welding is limited to regular thin flat material, which does not include thick plate, pipe or other irregular shapes.

Safety Equipment Needed for Class:

  • Ankle High, Steel-Toed, Safety Shoes
  • Safety Glasses w/ Side Shields
  • Welding Jacket
  • TIG Welding Gloves
  • Welding Cap
  • Welding Helmet
  • Welper Pliers
  • Channel Locks or Vise Grips
  • Stainless Wire Brush

30 Clock Hours: Lab - 26, Class - 4; CEUs - 3

Please Note: If a student desires to practice on different types of welds, and/or materials other than those offered, material must be provided by student.

Minimum enrollment numbers must be met in order for Weld School or Seminar & Workshop trainings to be held.  Trainings with less than the required minimum enrollment are subject to cancellation or rescheduling at the discretion of the WTTC Program Manager, Business Manager, or Manager of Technical Services. Classes will be cancelled no less than fourteen (14) working days before the scheduled start day of class and enrollees will be contacted.

Evening welding classes are held Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:45 PM for four weeks. Please be prepared to begin welding on the first day. If you have not paid in full, the entire course fee is due prior to the class start date.

Required PPE and tools: welding hood, lenses, leather gloves, leather jacket, wire brush, pliers, safety glasses with side shields, long sleeve cotton shirts, long pants and steel-toed shoes must be worn at all times within the school. (Absolutely no shorts permitted).

**Without the proper attire, you will not be permitted on the weld floor (no exceptions)**
